The plotter comes in either a desktop or stand version
The stand is about £ 250
If you opt for the IPF605 with no stand , the plots will fall on the floor.
The stand is a good buy for £ 250 as it is cast steel and very robust and of course
the plots fall neatly into the cloth basket.
Building the plotter and stand is fairly easy. The stand and cloth basket can be a bit tricky but the plotter is easy. Just rememeber to remove ALL of the orange tape and polystyrene from inside the machine , taking care to remove the piece hidden under the front cover.
Then it is a case of installing the single printhead and cartridges ( x 6)
The load a roll of paper , this machine is very sensitive to loading and requires the roll to fit snugly against the right hand side spindle , i you dont get it right or the core of the paper protrudes slightly it will not load.
Once the paper is loaded the plotter calibrates itself taking about 10 minutes.
Installing the plotter on a computer or network is dead simple.
If you are using a network , it is an idea to give to machine a fixed Ip address
If you do not know this you can find it with a simple tool you can download
called netscan.exe find it here http://www.softperfect.com/products/networkscanner
Once you are connected either install the printer from the CD
or just add printer in the printers folder and use the files situated in the drivers folder on the cd.
The printer is superfast , producing an A1 in around 33 seconds (draft)
